At the Firm

CCMI is pleased to welcome Graciela Hallmeyer to the team. Graciela joined CCMI after almost 19 years at InvestCloud in various management roles and positions. She will be working as a client services associate who will take over some of Kyle Kline’s role as he moves to assist with paraplanner functions. Please join us in welcoming Graciela!

The CCMI team got to step away from the office for an afternoon team building event on the water in San Diego. We went on a powerboat tour around the bay and spent time together at a happy hour after the tour. One of our values is to strengthen our team and community, and connecting outside the office is one way we strengthen our team for our clients.

We finished up tax season and have been reviewing tax returns looking for planning opportunities.

Brian attended a one-day course called AI in Action put on by Schwab to see various ways that the industry is using AI. CCMI continues to research options for how to best implement the technology for operational efficiencies securely and with our clients best interest in mind.

Matt joined his quarterly advisor study group meeting in Orange County in early May and learned about several new offerings that can target better specific tax outcomes within taxable investment accounts. The group also discussed how AI is being deployed across the industry and the various compliance and regulatory issues that go along with this technology.

Kim attended Dimensional’s NEXT Summit for Leaders with advisors from across the country to discuss leadership and collaboration. The experience provided valuable perspective on how firms can continue to grow while maintaining a high level of personalized service and strong client relationships. She especially appreciated the thoughtful conversations with her peers while sharing innovative ideas with each other.

Alana hosted her first training sessions with the Junior League of San Diego, focused on one of the league’s most requested topics: resume enhancement. She brought in an expert to help women strengthen their resumes for the jobs they aspire to pursue.

On the Home Front

Brian and Nikki have enjoyed time hiking and playing pickleball as all of their kids are enjoying other activities on the weekend. Emma (19) is on a nine-week study abroad over her spring term — she spent the first three weeks in Rome, is currently on the second three weeks in Paris, and will spend her final three weeks in London. The coursework fulfills three pre-requisite courses for the business program and they have done site visits at the US Embassy, PwC, Boeing, and Amazon, among other companies. Her favorite part is being able to spend time in these amazing cities, getting to know the culture, and eat lots of really great food (and lots of gelato!).  Kai (16) is enjoying working his first job scooping ice cream at Handel’s, and when he isn’t in school or working he is either surfing or fishing with a pole or speargun. Koa (13) has fallen in love with mountain biking and is out for a ride daily looking for the next best trail or jump on his bike.

Matt and his family enjoyed a long weekend in San Francisco, where Matt traveled for a conference. They visited Alcatraz again (the first time for Jacob) and also explored Chinatown, Japantown, and the north side of the city they hadn’t visited much in prior trips. The Showleys love to try new restaurants as well as visit their tried-and-true favorites, so it was a culinary adventure with some fun sightseeing along the way.

Kim and Tyler’s longtime friends came into town from the East Coast with their daughters to begin exploring local colleges. It was wonderful to spend time together over dinner, catch up, and be part of such an exciting milestone for their family. They also enjoyed one of their regularly scheduled dinners with a close group of local friends. Moments like these are a meaningful reminder of how grateful they are for the friendships and connections in their lives.

Tina Vieregg’s family celebrated Opening Day at San Diego Yacht Club, marking the start of the 130th sailing season. The day features a traditional ceremony, boat inspections, the Best Dressed Dock competition (their H dock won), and yacht hospitality for members and guests. Dave celebrated his birthday the best way he knows how — by participating in the annual Yachting Cup Regatta.  They enjoyed a fun-filled Mother’s Day starting with a mother/daughter workout, a family bike ride to coffee/breakfast, a hike on Annie’s Canyon Trail, dinner at Wildland in Carlsbad, and of course, ice cream!

Monica and her sisters celebrated Mother’s Day with their mom by taking her to afternoon tea. They had a lovely afternoon sampling savory and sweet treats while sipping tea with pinkies up. Mike and Monica have been taking advantage of the longer days by taking walks in the evenings for exercise and fun. It has been a nice way to catch up on the day’s events.

Abby had a nice month, which included spending Mother’s Day weekend with her kids; they watched a movie, enjoyed dinner, and had breakfast the morning of the holiday. The quality time was cherished and special to just be able to spend it together. Most of the month was simple, with the same routine of keeping busy with work, coffee gatherings with friends, workouts, and walks with her dog.

Jessica Hurley’s family has been keeping busy with the girls’ end-of-year school and extracurricular activities. Olivia had a Jazz Band performance at PLNU and performed again at her middle school’s spring concert. She was also excited to attend her end-of-year dance and has been rehearsing for her ballet school’s upcoming performance of Sleeping Beauty. Gigi’s afternoons are spent practicing with her swim team for the upcoming championship meet. Aside from keeping up with the girls, Jessica and Mike have been working through the design phase of their upcoming home remodel.

There were quite a few memory-making moments in May for Katie Williford’s family. One highlight was a surprise visit from Kim, Katie’s best friend, who lives in Maryland. Kim finally got to meet Mackenzie and Ansley, and it was such a treat to see the girls latch on to her! Other highlights included a trip to San Clemente to visit Ben’s family, an afternoon at Oma’s Farm in Lakeside, and picking blackberries in Poway.

Alana enjoyed a weekend in Palm Springs. She spent most of her time in the pool and read an entire book in one day. It was very relaxing.

Kyle and his family enjoyed their last month as a family of four. They welcomed a baby girl, Mazie, in late May! Brooks and Hallie are very excited to have a baby sister. In addition to getting ready for the baby, the Klines have been busy with baseball, birthday parties, and spending time with family.

Joe Oryang’s family spent a lot of time with extended family this month. They enjoyed weddings and surprise visits that were fun. The younger Oryangs are growing too fast and continue learning more, which is always fun to see.
