OUT & ABOUT APRIL 2026

29 Apr 2026 by: CCMI

At the Firm

The CCMI team was busy rebalancing accounts and preparing quarterly reports in April as well as helping clients prepare for filing taxes. Joe Oryang has been tasked with making trading more efficient and working with each advisor to update settings in our trading software over the last year. This quarter of rebalancing trading was the most efficient yet thanks to the team’s hard work.

Brian, Matt, and Jessica continue to evaluate various AI options focused on the wealth management industry to create operational efficiencies. Thus far, none of the solutions have been a great fit but they will continue to search for solutions that will positively impact our clients and CCMI.

Brian attended a one-day Entrepreneur’s Organization conference in San Diego that had various successful business owners sharing the strategies that grew their company, built successful cultures, and streamlined operations. As a business owner, Brian enjoys learning from peers to continue to improve CCMI for our team and our clients.

Matt drove to Orange County in late April for his quarterly Advisor Study Group meeting with other advisors from around Southern California. It’s always a great opportunity to learn from and share with others in our field.

Kim had the pleasure of serving as chair of the Day at Rotary in April, welcoming guests and introducing the speaker at the weekly lunch. The discussion centered on the Great Wealth Transfer and the impact it will have on future generations.

Kim has been working on refining internal tools and processes to better support our RTX clients. This work is focused on improving consistency and efficiency when reviewing complex benefit and compensation structures across clients.

On the Home Front

The Matter family had a busy month! Brian and Nikki were able to visit Brian’s 101-year-old Grandpa Matter shortly before his passing. Brian’s Grandpa was a great man and mentally sharp until the very end of his life. We would all be so lucky to live the long and healthy life he lived! Brian’s family feels so fortunate they had so much time with him and he was able to know his great-grandchildren.

Brian, Nikki, Kai, and Koa spent four days of spring break beach camping at Doheny State Beach with friends. It was a relaxing trip spent surfing, playing games, and eating good food. Finally, Brian and Nikki went up to Utah to pack up Emma from her first year of school. They moved her out of the dorm and flew home for a day, after which she boarded a plane for a spring term studying abroad in Rome, Paris, and London, finishing three prerequisite courses for the business program.

The Showleys had a quiet April for the most part after a string of colds and other illnesses sidelined the family in late March. Alex and Lizzie enjoyed a few days in Pasadena during part of Lizzie’s spring break, and Matt and Jacob stayed home and had some great father-son time building Lego structures, playing games, and going to the beach. Later in April, Matt joined some friends in Temecula for an overnight golf trip where he played two rounds — his first time golfing this year!

Kim accompanied her parents on their flight back to Maine and spent a few extra days with them before returning to San Diego. She and Tyler loved hosting them while they escaped the Maine winter and enjoyed some sunshine and warm weather.

Dave and Tina were lucky to score two tickets to the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA. They had been in the ticket lottery for over 35 years with no luck and finally, this year, were invited by a member of the Augusta National Golf Club. After arriving at the course at 6 a.m. and purchasing plenty of merchandise in the golf shop (including the coveted gnome), they placed their chairs at Amen Corner and walked the rest of the course early in the day. The property is absolutely beautiful, huge, and rolling. TV does not do it justice! The grass is perfect, the birds are real, the concessions are cheap and delicious (pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches were the favorites), the people are Southern hospitality friendly, and you can’t bring your cell phone anywhere on the property. The fairways are steep and lean in all directions and the greens are fast and undulating. The golfers are so good! They call it Disneyland for golfers, and the Viereggs can confirm that description is accurate. It was a memory of a lifetime!

The Larsons enjoyed celebrating Easter with family and friends by hosting a simple brunch. Monica couldn’t resist doing an egg hunt for the “kids” ranging in age from 28 to 33. She also enjoyed seeing an ‘80s tribute band with girlfriends in San Juan Capistrano on a Friday evening. It was fun to dance and sing along to their favorite songs!

Abby had a fun month with her yearly trip to Vegas with friends. The weather was warm but not too hot, and they attended a JLo concert during their visit. She also enjoyed her Easter weekend holiday, spending the day with her kids. They played games, had lots to eat, and just enjoyed their time together.

The Hurleys enjoyed a quiet weekend getaway on Palomar Mountain, where the peaceful, uncrowded setting offered a chance to slow down and soak in the outdoors. Back home, Jessica spent a day chaperoning Olivia’s 5th grade band trip to the Forum Festival, where the energetic young musicians earned a gold rating for their performance. The celebration continued with an afternoon at SeaWorld, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

This month, the Willifords were quite busy. They got to spend time with Katie’s brother Clayton (photo), they hosted an Easter celebration, and they celebrated Ben’s birthday! A few of the highlights included dancing to live music with the girls at a local spot; talking to the girls about astronauts and Christina Koch, mission specialist of the Artemis crew; and enjoying all the Easter festivities and celebrations.

Alana has been enjoying the start of spring. She went to Palm Springs (her first visit!) to spend time with her family. She has been swimming and playing ultimate frisbee now that the weather has been nicer and the days are longer.

Joe and his family had a great month. They went on a great trip to Puerto Penasco with Kendra’s parents and siblings, eating good food and spending time at the beach and pools.

Kyle and his family had a very busy month. Rebecca’s mom had a successful heart transplant and will be getting out of the hospital anytime now. Brooks and Hallie will be so happy to have their grandma back! They also enjoyed celebrating Easter with family, having Kyle’s parents in town, and attending Brooks’ baseball games.
