Out and About December 2025

30 Dec 2025 by: CCMI

At the Firm

CCMI’s charity of the year is Monarch Schools, which supports K–12 students who do not have permanent housing. The CCMI team (pictured) sponsored a holiday party for the 4th grade class which included bringing pizza and gifts for each student, decorating cookies and having a lot of fun with the students. It was a wonderful event and the team loved helping to brighten the day of the students.

CCMI gathered for our annual holiday dinner in mid-December to celebrate our achievements for the year. CCMI completed a firm record for number of financial plans completed in a year, and has continued our steady growth with finding the right clients to work with. We are so thankful for the team that works hard everyday for our clients!

As the chair of the Grotarian committee with Rotary, Kim and her co-chair Amie set up events throughout the year to help connect new members to the organization. This month, they had an event at the Joan, the new Cygnet theater previously located in Old Town. It was well attended and the group enjoyed learning more about the venue and current productions and having private tours of the stage and backstage areas.

Kim has been attending various holiday parties through the organizations she belongs to during this holiday season. While it’s a busy time of year, it’s always nice to take time to socialize and connect with others.

Year-end tax planning has been the main focus over the last several weeks and preparing for the needs of our clients in the new year.

Alana and her sister volunteered with Monarch and Project Connect, an event that welcomes students, families, and community members to Monarch for a free gourmet meal. Turkeys, pies, and all the trimmings were handmade by local chefs and volunteers. Guests gathered in the gym to share a meal with their neighbors and make new friends. After dinner, families headed to the recess area, where local organizations had donated toys and a huge inflatable obstacle course and other fall-themed activities were set up so everyone could relax and have fun together. Alana was deeply moved by the abundance provided by the donors and by seeing its impact on the families.

On the Home Front

Brian and Nikki are looking forward to having the family all together for the holidays. Emma returned home from college for an extended break, Kai had a holiday choir concert and did great, and Koa’s flag football team won their division championship and his basketball team is off to a hot start.

Matt and his family will be home for the holidays, which is great for them as they have been quite busy as the year comes to a close. Lizzie will be performing in The Nutcracker for seven shows in December, dancing in two different roles. She has practiced for several months for five and six days a week and the family thoroughly enjoyed seeing her on stage after all of her hard work. Both kids are looking forward to some time off from their busy school and activity schedules, and Matt and Alex are excited to not have to drive them all over town. This is the Showleys’ favorite time of year and they are looking forward to a quiet end to a great year!

Kim and Tyler have been busy with home renovations during the month of December. They are looking forward to the finished product, just in time for Kim’s parents to arrive for their annual visit to San Diego to escape the cold Maine winter. Kim and Tyler are trying to remain festive by exploring local fun holiday events and decorations around town. They also attended Tyler’s work holiday party, which was a lot of fun; it was nice to spend time with Tyler’s colleagues.

The Vieregg family had a quiet Thanksgiving by historical standards. Five family members gathered at their home, including their niece, nephew, and brother, with many of the extended family having other obligations this year. While the gathering was smaller than usual, they enjoyed a low-key meal, lots of games, and a long hike. They are now gearing up for the Christmas holiday in Cleveland with Tina’s extended family while enjoying holiday parties and events in San Diego, including the annual Holiday Boat Parade.

Monica spent early December decorating her home one-handed while watching Hallmark movies. She has been going to physical therapy twice a week and looks forward to a speedy healing of her right wrist. She was able to celebrate her mom’s birthday while watching the boat parade on San Diego Bay with friends and lots of hot cocoa. She looks forward to having Cole and Megan home for Christmas so the entire family will be together. Most of all she is thankful for the many blessings of this year and looks forward to 2026.

December was a busy month for Abby, with many fun and exciting events. She received exciting news when her son got engaged! Everyone in the family is excited about it and looks forward to the celebration. She also had her yearly trip to the Bay Area with the friends she grew up with, spending good quality time in Sonoma catching up, eating, and enjoying the holiday festivities around town. Abby spent the holidays with her kids going to local venues, eating and just hanging out together. This was an eventful year for Abby with so much to be grateful for. She is looking forward to 2026.

The Hurleys kicked off the holidays with a Thanksgiving escape to Joshua Tree, full of boulder hopping, games, and star-filled nights. Jessica and Olivia marched in the 46th annual OB Galactic Holiday Beach Bash parade, tossing candy and soaking up the festive energy. The family kept the fun going with a quick Great Wolf Lodge getaway for Gigi’s birthday, a trip to see The Grinch at the Old Globe, and Jessica’s Pacific Beach Santa 5K (with Alana) — another holiday adventure checked off the list!

This month, Katie wrapped up the investments course for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional education. She couldn’t have done it without Ben and her mom taking the girls on different adventures to provide space for her to study. She is very thankful for them! When not studying, the Willifords enjoyed the festive season. A few highlights include decorating Christmas cookies with Santa Claus at church and dancing with the girls at Ben’s holiday party.

This month flew by! Alana hosted her first Thanksgiving dinner and it was a big success — she’s already excited to do it again next year. Lately, she’s been getting into winter crafts and teaching herself how to crochet while listening to audiobooks.

The Oryangs are adjusting to life with a newborn, with all of the good and bad that come with that. The good moments make it all worth it and we are so excited to have Zivi with us.

The Kline family had a very busy month! The highlight was spending time with Kyle’s family in New Mexico for Thanksgiving. The kids didn’t want to leave! They loved playing sports with their cousins, going on ATV and RZR rides, watching the deer, and hanging out by the fire each night. Kyle and Rebecca also went on a birthday trip to Palm Springs. He was able to golf at a couple PGA West courses!
