Out & About July 2025

At the Firm

The CCMI team spent a day at the Scripps Seaside Forum for our annual business planning day. We talked through areas of improvement, identified goals for the quarter, and did some team-building activities. It was a productive day as we reviewed our strategic planning goals and charted out projects for the next quarter and the next year.

The team also enjoyed a lunch offsite to celebrate the second quarter birthdays: Matt and Alana. We enjoy getting out of the office to celebrate birthdays on a quarterly basis.

Kim has been working diligently in her new duties as chair of the Grotarian Committee for the San Diego Rotary Club as it starts a new year. This committee helps welcome new members by providing opportunities to learn more about Rotary and connect with others through various events held throughout the year. Kim is working with a co-chair and together they look forward to an exciting and fun year!

Tina is honored to be nominated for an award by San Diego Magazine’s Celebrating Women 2025 in the category of Pioneer for Women in Finance. She also authored the commentary included in our clients’ quarterly reports, which along with rebalancing keeps everyone busy as the quarter comes to a close.

On the Home Front

Brian enjoyed celebrating his birthday in early July with Nikki at a new restaurant in San Diego.  He missed celebrating with his kids that night as Emma was working at her summer job at Cava and Kai and Koa were on a trip to South Africa with their grandparents.

Matt and his family mostly stayed home in July after a busy month of June. Lizzie resumed her ballet focus with a three-week intensive course and Jacob did two weeks of rock climbing camp and one week of surf camp. All this activity made for some tired kids! Matt and Jacob also made a quick one-day getaway to Salt Lake City so Jacob could see the Dude Perfect World Tour along with about 6,000 othermiddle school-aged boys and their parents, who watched the trick-shot artists put on a great show.

Kim, Tyler, and their friends participated in the Old Pros Run and Ride in Scripps Ranch. Kim rode 35 miles on her bike and Tyler ran a 10k. They participate in this event on an annual basis regardless of how much they’ve trained for it. They especially enjoy meeting up with everyone at the end of the race, where there is a celebration, live music, food, and drinks!

It was a quiet month in the Vieregg household. Tina and Dave got away to see a concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas and Tina enjoyed a girls’ trip to Yellow Point Lodge near Vancouver, Canada.  They celebrated the 4th of July in a raft in La Playa with fellow SDYC members to watch fireworks and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Mike and Monica are proud to welcome daughter-in-law Megan to the family! Cole and Megan were married in a Catholic church mass and also had an outdoor vow ceremony with their closest friends and the bridal party in beautiful Castle Rock, Colo. The couple’s reception included delicious food stations, signature drinks, a donut wall, and a never-empty dance floor! Mike and Monica took advantage of the trip to Colorado and spent a week exploring the Rocky Mountains, attending a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and taking in all the natural beauty as they drove back to San Diego!

The Hurley family embarked on a magical journey through London, the timeless beauty of Paris, and the countryside charm of Faversham. The highlight for Olivia and Gigi was the Harry Potter Studio Tour; they especially appreciated the stroll through Gringotts Wizarding Bank. In Paris, climbing the Eiffel Tower for breathtaking views and the musical fountains of  the Palace of Versailles gardens were favorites. The cities drenched in summer sunshine were a gorgeous treat! Faversham was a wonderful contrast to the bustling cities; they enjoyed strumming guitars, creating art, and riding motorbikes around the wildflower gardens. They returned to San Diego with hearts full of gratitude — there’s no place like home.

Abby had a fun month celebrating 4th of July and her brother’s retirement dinner with the family and her kids. Summer is always so busy with celebrations and get-togethers; there’s always something to gather for. They ate lots of good food and watched the fireworks, appreciating that San Diego provides the best shows around. It was a great month for Abby and she’s looking forward to August, as it’s a big birthday month for the family and she has many celebratory gatherings planned.

The highlight of the month for the Willifords was the Independence Day holiday. Through friends, they got to spend the evening on the USS Portland, take a personal tour of the ship, and then watch fireworks from the landing deck. It was incredible and now a very treasured memory!

Alana has been enjoying a fun and active start to the summer. She is especially excited about joining the Master Swim program at the YMCA. She practices with the team every Wednesday and Friday morning, and it brings so much energy and joy to her day. More notably, she traveled to Portland to celebrate her youngest cousin’s wedding. True to Portland style, it rained the entire weekend, and she laughed with her family about how they were all dressed up only to cover their outfits with rain ponchos. Weddings are always a good time, and she especially loved spending time with her grandparents, who bravely ate their taco plates in the pouring rain.

The summer has started out great for the Oryang family. They have been at the beach as much as possible and went to many local towns for good food and fun. It has been a great summer, and they plan to continue enjoying it as much as possible.

The Klines enjoyed a family camping trip with Rebecca’s family to Sun Outdoors in Chula Vista. The kids loved swimming every day, riding bikes and scooters, playing bingo, and all the late nights eating dessert with their cousins! Kyle‘s family also came into town from Arizona and rented a house at the bay for a week. The kids had so much fun playing with more cousins and celebrating their grandparents’ anniversary. It was a busy month full of family fun!
