At the Firm
CCMI has been busy working on the ADV and Form CRS documents to provide to our clients. These documents are required to be updated within the first 90 days and will be sent to clients once updated.
The CCMI team always enjoys a friendly competition and March brought our annual March Madness bracket tournament into play. Team members have traditionally filled out a men’s tournament bracket, but this year we added the women’s tournament bracket as well. Two-time champion Brian Matter is hoping to defend his most recent title and claim another March Madness victory!
Matt Showley attended the first in-person meeting in two years for his Southern California advisor study group. It was great to see how other advisors fared during the two-year break and get to learn and share new approaches and practice management strategies that have emerged during COVID.
Kim attended the Financial Transitionist® Institute’s Mid-Year Conference Retreat at the Hotel del Coronado, where she was finally able to meet the community of financial planners who are CeFT®s in person! They have been meeting on Zoom since 2020, when Kim started her coursework. They went through interactive cases together and Kim enjoyed working with other financial planners who are more experienced in using the tools she’s been learning.
Matt Ryan attended the CFA Society San Diego’s 15th Annual Forecast Dinner. It is one of the group’s most prestigious events and includes presentations from speakers and panels sharing unique perspectives on the market.
Tina has been enjoying meeting clients and preparing financial plans. She has participated in several webinars for continuing education and is taking an Investment and Portfolio Analytics class at San Diego State University on Tuesday evenings. As part of a team effort, Tina has participated in implementing the ideas generated during our annual business planning meeting.
On the Home Front
Brian’s family is enjoying a busy month of sports. Emma has started a club soccer team to build on her skills after a fun high school season, Kai is playing on an intermediate little league team and learning new skills like leading off of bases, and Koa is enjoying making new friends on his team. It seems as though there is always a practice or game to be at these days!
Matt Showley’s family has been immersed in little league baseball, as Jacob began playing for the first time after missing two years due to COVID. Matt’s daughter Elizabeth enjoyed a break in her activities and is getting ready to start playing volleyball next month. Alex enjoyed a weekend in Palm Springs while Matt held down the fort at home.
Kim and Tyler have been keeping busy with meeting up with different groups of friends for birthdays this past month. They are also preparing for a trip to Yosemite and have been keeping active. Most recently, they hiked Mother Miguel Mountain and ended up doing a seven-mile loop by the end of it!
Matt Ryan and his wife Jess are busy enjoying their 15-month-old and chasing him all around the parks in San Diego. Their son Reid splashed around in the tide pools at the beach last month as well. Matt also had the pleasure of attending a wedding for a friend he attended high school with and enjoyed the new Batman movie that was released in early March.
Tina and Dave enjoyed skiing with friends in Utah in February. Their youngest daughter, Sara, has been accepted into University of San Diego’s Master’s program for marriage and family therapy and they are very excited that she will be coming back to San Diego.
Monica and Mike joined Tina and her husband, Dave, and their friends on a cold Friday night for a bonfire and yummy s’mores at the bay in Coronado. It is always fun to spend time with coworkers outside of the office! Monica’s mom loves to watch fireworks any time of the year. Never one to miss out, Monica joined her mom at the Hotel del Coronado and enjoyed two spectacular fireworks shows in one week at the beach.
Abby had a fun-filled month that included going to Julian for the first time with her nieces. They enjoyed breakfast and some apple pie. It’s a cute little town and she will venture there again in the future! Abby also got to go to the Garth Brooks concert with friends and was fortunate enough to have a front-row seat. It was an amazing concert and the first time post-pandemic that the setting felt like the good old days of just having a fun outing with friends. Abby’s looking forward to spring.
After returning from Anastasia’s “ski week” adventures, the Hoopes family spent a quiet first two weeks of March. As the weather is warming up, they have been getting outside in their Normal Heights neighborhood to ride their bikes and occasionally meet up with neighbors for an afternoon walk. Sheila and her family are also busy planning out the summer and choosing fun summer day camps for Anastasia to attend, with topics like “Mermaid Camp,” “Water Palooza,” and “MakerSpace.” It is shaping up to be a busy summer for her!
Jessica and her family temporarily moved out for termite tenting. They are happy it’s finally done, along with the major spring cleaning it inspired. Both Livi and Gigi started classes at the Fleet Science Center in March. Jessica attended Gigi’s first parent-child class, where they learned about adaptations of different birds, built a bird feeder, and dissected an owl pellet. Livi and Jessica attended a pottery painting class. Livi also added a jazz contemporary class to her weekly dance schedule. The girls are keeping Jessica and Mike very busy this spring!
