At the Firm
The CCMI team held our annual business planning meeting in early February. We reviewed the successes of the prior year, and came up with projects and areas to improve for the year ahead. We look forward to continuously improving for our clients!
Brian and Matt have been working hard on beginning of the year compliance-related areas, including our firm brochure. Be on the lookout for it and Form CRS, which will both be sent to clients upon completion.
Matt Showley hosted his Vistage group’s monthly meeting at the CCMI office building. He gave a presentation about the history of the firm and how our clients are uniquely served by the CCMI team as part of his Host Presentation.
In January, Kim officially completed the year-long coursework and passed a three-part exam to become a Certified Financial Transitionist (CeFT®), offered through the Financial Transitionist Institute. She is specifically skilled and trained to work with clients going through the financial transitions that come with major life events. You can learn more about what this entails in Kim’s 2021 interview with founder Susan Bradley.
Matt Ryan continues to produce a monthly video and distribute it through a newsletter for professionals who are still building the foundation of their wealth. You can sign up for Matt’s Monthly Briefing here.
The highlight for Tina this month was participating in our annual Business Planning Meeting . It was a great opportunity to brainstorm and collaborate on enhancements to our financial planning, investment management, and company processes to make life easier for everyone! Tina participated in several webinars on strategies for working with women investors and a webinar on product updates on our financial planning software. She also enjoyed celebrating her birthday with Sheila (who also has a birthday in the first quarter) and the rest of the CCMI team.
Abby enjoyed the 2022 Business Planning Meeting, learning a little more about each other and where the company is headed is always motivational and exciting. She also really enjoyed the team-building aspect of the meeting. It’s really enjoyable to come to work every day and Abby feels privileged to work with such a great group of people!
On the Home Front
Brian’s family enjoyed a few days of skiing in Brian Head, Utah. The Matters were lucky to get fresh snow while they were there, but not so lucky when the temperature was in the low teens for highs and negatives for lows! Overall, they had a great time being together and skiing.
Matt Showley and his family went to Disneyland for two days to celebrate Jacob’s eighth birthday. Jacob had a great time seeing the new Star Wars area and riding on some of the new attractions. They finished the trip with ice cream from Salt & Straw in Downtown Disney! Later in the month, the Showleys attended the Harlem Globetrotters basketball game at the Sports Arena, a first for the kids, and they really enjoyed it.
Kim and Tyler traveled to Hawaii for a relaxing but active vacation. They especially loved the beautiful hikes and dramatic landscape of Kauai and their hike
of the Kalalau Trail along the Nā Pali Coast. While most of their time was spent exploring the island, they also enjoyed a nice dinner out at the Beach Houserestaurant near Poipu Beach.
Matt Ryan continues to try and get out on his road bike as often as he can on weekends. This month, he had the chance to take a nice long bike ride up the 5 toward Sorrento Valley from Point Loma. He also enjoyed hosting a small Super Bowl party at his home with a few friends.
This month has been more quiet than usual in the Vieregg household. Dave and Tina are working on a yard project, enjoying the nice weather, and loving on their dog Skyler.
Monica and Mike celebrated their wedding anniversary by attending the Beyond Van Gogh art exhibit. They were also able to catch the end of the Super Bowl game on the same day. They took in an Aztec basketball game, which is always exciting. And they continue to spend weekends working around the house; there is always something that needs painting.
February was busy all around for Abby just with the normal everyday routine. Her kids visited a couple weekends in a row. Abby loves most spending time with her kids the most! When they get time off, they come to visit, and Abby enjoys hanging out and cooking for them. She also loves the weekend ritual of taking her dog to Dog Beach, as this is her happy place.
Sheila, John, and Anastasia had a nice February. They got to visit with some friends they hadn’t seen for a while at a Winter Olympics party one weekend, and then got to see some other friends for the Super Bowl the following weekend. Anastasia celebrated her 100th day of school dressed as a 100-year-old and her outfit was inspired by her great grandmother (GG), as she wore GG’s pearl eyeglass chain! She celebrated Valentine’s Day with her classmates and then got to spend her “ski week” with her cousins in the Bay Area, visiting them in El Cerrito before going to Monterey to visit the aquarium. The month flew by!
Jessica and her family enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather by paddleboarding and kayaking on the bay with friends. Livi is finally able to kayak completely across Sail Bay and back without assistance! Gigi started a new season of Soccer Shots and was proud to tell her parents about her first goal. Both girls had a blast celebrating Valentine’s Day with their classmates and at home.
