CCMI’s “Gathering 4 Good”

25 Oct 2017 by: Matt Showley

On Tuesday, October 17th, the CCMI team hosted our “Gathering 4 Good” event at the Mission Valley Public Library. The CCMI team and CCMI clients had a great time participating in hands-on projects to benefit these four non-profit organizations:

  • Serving Seniors transforms the lives of low income seniors living in San Diego by offering a broad range of vital services to those in need. These services include serving meals, providing affordable and permanent housing, health care services, and educational support. During our “Gathering 4 Good,” we created 96 hygiene kits which were filled with soap, shampoo, lotion, tooth brushes, toothpaste, lip balm, wash cloths, and combs to help the seniors this fall season.
  • Voices for Children helps abused, abandoned, or neglected children by proving them with trained volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) who advocate to improve the lives of children in the foster care system. During our event, we made over 95 Halloween goodie bags for foster children who will not have the opportunity to go Trick-or-Treating this Halloween. In the spirit of Halloween, the treat bags were stuffed full of candy and fun items like Halloween pencils, erasers, bouncy balls and wax fangs. CCMI delivered the bags the next day and were able to put a smile on children’s faces.
  • Operation Gratitude’s goal is to lift the spirits the U.S. Military and the First Responders communities. Operation Gratitude provides volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation. At this station, event attendees were encouraged to write letters to a wounded warrior, a deployed troop member, a new recruit just finishing up boot camp, or a veteran. Together, we were able to write over 40 letters that will be delivered to service members to acknowledge their sacrifices and let them know how much they are appreciated.
  • Helen Woodward Animal Center believes that “animals help people and people help animals.” The center provides a variety of services that benefit the community through educational and therapeutic programs for people and they provide humane care and adoptions of animals. At the event, we packed 76 adoption kits for future dog owners. These kits included toys, treats, a blanket, dog wipes, and waste bags. These adoption kits will make the adoption process a little bit easier for the new pet owner.

CCMI takes great pride in caring for our clients and for our community. “Gathering 4 Good” will touch the lives of service members, foster children, seniors, and adopted animals. It was a great opportunity for CCMI and our clients to give back to the community and we look forward to hosting this event again next year!
