Get to Know You: Meet CCMI’s Principal and Owner, Matt Showley

27 Apr 2022 by: Matt Showley  ,

CCMI principal and owner Matt Showley, CFP®, AEP®, was interested in the logistics of running a business and financial planning early on, which motivated him to pursue and earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University, an MBA from the University of San Diego, and a graduate certificate in financial and tax planning from San Diego State University.

From College to Rising Star

When he joined CCMI in 2006 as an investment associate, Matt quickly used his skill set, experience, and commitment to help clients with straightforward, reliable guidance to add value to the firm and the CCMI team. For example, he developed CCMI’s First Step Financial Planning platform, which aims to guide younger individuals and families in completing the financial planning process for the first time. In 2017, Matt and Brian Matter purchased the firm upon Bob and Peg Eddy’s retirement and began operating under the newly established name, Creative Capital Management Investments LLC.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Accredited Estate Planner®, and owner and principal of CCMI, Matt works with new and existing clients facing various financial concerns. He advises individuals, families, and business owners in portfolio management, financial planning, tax and estate planning, real estate, cash flow modeling, and education planning. In addition to his client-facing role, he also oversees business operations. Helping clients relieve financial stress and achieve what they’ve set out to do, such as spending more time with family, starting a business, and traveling, are what Matt finds most fulfilling about CCMI’s work.

A Family Man and Active Community Member

Matt is an active member of the community and part of several professional organizations outside of the office, including Junior Achievement of San Diego, Estate Planning Council of San Diego, his Vistage Group, and the Scripps Health Foundation Gift Planning Advisory Board. He is also a co-founder and past board member of Empower Language Academy, a tuition-free Spanish immersion school.

Matt was born and raised in San Diego and currently lives in Clairemont with his wife Alex, daughter Elizabeth, and son Jacob. He loves most sports, especially golf and volleyball, and even played on the nationally ranked men’s volleyball team at Pepperdine. He also loves traveling with his family to places such as Paris and Hawaii, cooking and entertaining, and photography.
